While interning for HDT, I learned much about environmental housing and community design and construction. I spent the summer working to develop an eco-friendly straw bale house that was later constructed. I also helped to design and plot out a 20 acre parcel of unused land for a future low impact community. My fellow intern and I presented several times during the course of the internship, both to the members of the non-profit and sister company, but also to the public on two occasions. We passed the building and community designs to the next set of interns for continuation.
